On December 22, 2022, Tamie Davidson’s son, Finn, was diagnosed with high-risk Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Only a few days short of Christmas, he began his initial treatment locally in Indiana, but was eventually transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital on St. Patrick’s Day 2023. For 196 nights, the Davidson’s called the Ronald McDonald House their home as Finn underwent a bone marrow transplant.
One Year After Diagnosis
In 2023, the Davidson family was one of the Cocktail & Caregiver Angel Family recipients. “It was a Merry Christmas,” Tamie wrote in a follow up thank you. “Finn was able to come home for Christmas this year. It was a wonderful day filled with so much appreciation and gratitude. Our hearts are overflowing with love for each other and all of you have helped us make it through the last year.”
A Christmas To Remember
“Overall, his recovery hasn’t been easy, but there is NO leukemia and that in itself is miraculous,” says Tamie. Sounds like a Christmas miracle to us at C&C. In June, while celebrating his 12th birthday, Finn learned he is 100% cancer free with 100% donor cells. While Finn still battles with host vs. graft disease and is in and out of the hospital a lot. The weekly trips to Cincinnati continue for immunotherapy and new medications. Due to his ongoing treatment which kills his B cells (they help make up your immune system), Finn was not able to return to school in-person this year, spending a lot of time since his 12th birthday (June 20) in the hospital.
With our grant funding program, Keeping Caregivers Close, made possible by Round Room Gives, and our Martini Club Members, we were able to send funding to the Davidson Family to assist them with their continuous travel to Cincinnati.
The Impact of Your Support
We invite you to join us in supporting caregivers like Tamie, who dedicate themselves to the well-being of their loved ones. Your contributions to Cocktails & Caregivers make a difference. Together, we can help lighten the load and provide the care and support that the Davidson Family needs to allow them to focus on what truly matters. Thank you Finn for reminding us that the true Christmas Miracles do exist, and so do amazing caregivers like your mom Tamie.
