“We are the Mallios Family. We started our love story with George’s two boys Nikolas (12) and Demetri (10) and added two more boys Luca (2.5) and Leo (12mo). Making our home was our dream, full of four energetic boys, loud, chaotic, full of toys, sports, games, and most importantly, love.
I awoke from that dream in March of this year. As a nurse, I recognized some subtle changes in my healthy husband; it started with him mixing up all of the boy’s names (we all do this), but he did it that entire weekend. I knew something was not right. That’s when we discovered he had a terminal form of brain cancer, Glioblastoma. “
“My dear strong husband has endured two craniotomies, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, six weeks of radiation, and is so fortunate to be enrolled in a clinical trial. He always was stubborn!
We have had tremendous support from our family and friends watching our boys, driving to appointments, making dinners, and keeping our home together (as much as you can with four boys).”
“I never in a million years thought that I would be the one that needed the support of a group like Cocktails & Chemo. I never imagined facing such a huge mountain to climb in caring for my husband in my thirties and becoming the sole provider for our family.
It takes a village, and I am so thankful for your support for our family. We can not even begin to thank you.”
Through the support of our donors, Cocktails & Chemo provided a $2,000 grant to help the Mallios family cover childcare expenses while George seeks treatment.
