Lisa Benkowski is very special to this organization. One of the first young widows, I met who was raising young children while balancing her grief. I’m forever grateful to those we’ve met and supported along the way and the way they’ve turned their own pain into supporting our organization and helping us help others.
– Amanda Clark, Cocktails & Caregivers Founder
Here’s what Lisa wrote when we asked her why she gives to the Martini Club, our monthly donation program to support caregivers:
Cocktails and Caregivers hold a very special place in my heart, I was introduced to the foundation in 2013 during the most challenging time of my life. My husband was diagnosed with cancer while raising our one-year-old daughter, and I was pregnant with our second daughter.
We were blessed to have a lot of help from family and friends, but as too many people can relate, it’s devastating when a loved one is sick.
C&C stepped in and supported me through FB groups, a special care package, and caregiver events. The caregiver luncheons allowed me to connect with others and build friendships with people who understood exactly what I was going through. They say you can’t give from an empty cup, and my cup was full after these events. My husband was so happy that I had exceptional support from C&C.
The connections and friendships I made through C&C supported me through the rollercoaster of emotions and tears from heartbreak and loss.
I know many caregivers are giving their all to their loved ones. I’m happy to be a Martini Club member and hope more caregivers can feel the C&C love.
