For Stacia Scott, life changed overnight. One day it was school drop-offs, sports practice, and family dinners around the table. Next, she was sitting in a hospital room hearing the words no parent ever wants to hear: Your child has cancer.
Since that day, Stacia has worn a dozen hats; mom, nurse, advocate, researcher, and comforter. “Caregiving doesn’t have an off switch,” she says. “It’s constant. It touches every part of your life, even the quiet moments. Some days feel impossibly heavy, and there are times I am running on empty, but love leaves no other choice but to keep showing up.”
That’s the truth of caregiving: it’s relentless. But Stacia has also discovered unexpected blessings. A community that rallies. Strangers and friends who show up with meals, prayers, and messages that remind her she isn’t walking this journey alone.
One of those reminders came through a care package from Cocktails & Caregivers. A box of encouragement, hand-packed with love, that arrived on a day her family desperately needed hope. “It’s those little gestures,” Stacia says, “that keep you going when you feel invisible.”

Her advice to others? “Caregiving isn’t just about the medical tasks. It’s carrying the emotional, mental, and physical weight of fighting for your child’s life every single day. Sometimes the smallest kindness can mean the most; a hot meal, a prayer, or simply acknowledging how hard this really is. That can be life-giving.”
Stacia’s story reminds us: caregiving is fueled by love, even when the weight feels unbearable. And for caregivers like her, community makes all the difference.
Cocktails & Caregivers is grateful to our donors and supporters, and our Martini Club members, who help fund the Our Tribe grant program that helps families with childcare needs so they can focus on all of the tasks Stacia mentioned at more. C&C was able to provide support to allow Stacia to hire an in-home preschool teacher to come to the house. Due to her son Cody’s rigorous treatment, he can no longer attend the preschool he loves. Our grant is able to help bring preschool to Cody, providing Stacia with a small relief and Cody some time to do what he loves, learning.Learn more about how you can support the mission at cocktailsandcaregivers.org.
