Sisterly Support
Meggan Mikkal found support from Cocktails & Caregivers (then Cocktails & Chemo) after her dear husband passed from Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer. Meggan and her sister planned to attend the big BLUE TIE GALA fundraiser in March 2022. A chance to get dressed up and connect with other caregivers and widows she’s met through the foundation. Days before the event, Meggan’s life felt like deja vu as her sister called to say her husband had now been diagnosed with cancer.
Katie LaGiglia-Pridham’s husband, Matt, has been diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma, and the family is, of course, reeling. Meggan says, “He is the financial support for the family and has not been able to work.” Katie and Matt have two sons, aged 17 and 9. While Katie is busy driving Matt to and from his many appointments, they still need to provide childcare for their youngest son. A massive need that no one can plan.
Four weeks into his daily chemo and radiation treatments, Katie says, “we are praying for a great outcome despite the proposed medical outcome.” The family is taking it one day at a time and hopes to pay the generosity forward one day, too.
Because of donors like you, we are so thankful we can support sisters like Meggan and Katie when they need it most. Cocktails & Caregivers is providing a $2,000 grant to the LaGiglia-Pridham family to help cover costs associated with childcare as they focus on Matt’s treatment.
We’re thankful to have Meggan and Katie have each other. Life can feel like a sh*t storm; together, we can lighten this load.
